Okay, so here’s the deal..

I decided to publish the Grumps book through the print on demand services of Lulu, knowing that I could never sell enough copies to justify self publishing and paying for a full press print run. The book is done and ready for sale now through Lulu, but damn if Lulu hasn’t just gone and jacked up their prices. Now the book costs an astronomical $32 bucks! Yes, it’s 128 pages, yes it’s full colour, yes it’s a nice large format (8.5″ x 8.5″), but I just can’t see anyone willing to fork over that kind of cash. It just feels like too much to me, and this is with absolutely no profit for me (well, it was $31.20 and I rounded it up to $32.00, because $31.20 is just a weird price, so I am making about 80 cents per book).  A print run would allow me to sell it for way way less, but I can’t really justify thousands of dollars out of pocket when I know I’ll never make it back.

So, I plan to take some photos of the book and officially announce it here next week. I’m not expecting any of you to buy it, but I really want to have it available in print form for myself mainly, and for anyone who really has to have it, despite the price. I really don’t know what else I can do.

I thought it would be interesting to compile most of the little thumbnail images I put next to my blog posts on Grumps. Each thumbnail is usually a close up of some part of each episode. I think it’s kind of neat to look at, and maybe even a good rersource for some avatars. Who knows? Anyways, check it out here!

I’m back! Sorry for the missed update last week.

And now the bad news…
I’ve just started working on a big project which will keep me busy until February. What does this mean? Well, updates here are going to be sparce. I won’t say it’s a full stop hiatus, but updates will be very thin around here until February. Until I can make a living doing comics like this one, a guy’s gotta pay his bills, y’know?

Good Friday folks! Don’t forget about Byron Pinkleton. He loves you, you know!

My tolerance for scotch is quite low. I’m fine to have a couple by themselves, but if I consume any beer or other additional intoxcants, I cannot even keep down water the next day. It’s quite horrible really, as I do quite enjoy a nice peaty single malt to wash away the dust of the road, or completely cure a sore throat!

Working on multiple storylines at the same time here, trying to jump around creating a sort of soap opera vibe to the whole story right now. Gotta keep you guessing what’s gonna happen next! A crazy sex scene, some plot development, or perhaps a few lines of coke on some granny’s taters, who knows? Not even me!

I was thinking of auctioning off some original artwork, and I’m just deciding right now what that artwork will be. Suggestions welcome.
